A-hem... I admit that the first time I tried green juice I didn't love it, but as with many things that are good for us, I grew to not only tolerate it but to enjoy it!

It's now a part of my morning routine, drinking a glass of nutrient-rich juice to get my morning started. If you're like me you don't have a lot of time every morning to cook a big breakfast, or maybe you just want to add an extra boost of fruit and veggies to your diet. Whatever your reason, adding fresh juice is the perfect way to get healthier.

And... bonus, you can use the leftover pulp to make healthy muffins! I will be writing more about that in a future post, so stay tuned...

You can make fresh juice in a blender or a juicer. When using a blender you will need to strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth until the pulp is squeezed dry. If you want to bypass this extra step, use a juicer that separates the juice from the pulp. There are an overwhelming amount of juicers to choose from, where do you begin? Don't worry, I did the research for you (yay!) and found the perfect juicer (see below).

So you are probably wondering why go through the "hassle" of juicing when you can just eat the whole fruit/vegetable? It's a great question. For my personal experience, it's just not practical to eat that much in one sitting, and I love the tasty combinations of fresh juice - I'm not going to eat raw ginger or lemon without it being mixed in something!

There are many additional reasons to incorporate juicing into your wellness routine such as...

My Go-To Fresh Juice Recipe That I Make (Almost) Every Day!

3-4 small apples (cored if using a blender)

2-3 full stalks of celery

2- 3 large carrots

1"-2" of peeled ginger

1 large peeled lemon

3-4 large handfuls of kale

3-4 large handfuls of spinach

1-2 large cucumbers

Optional Add-Ins or Swaps:

1 large beet

1 cup peeled mango

1 cup peeled papaya

1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

JUICER: Following your juice machine instructions, add each fruit or vegetable one at a time until you have juiced them all. Stir the juice to mix well, drink up! Refrigerate for up to 48 hours (but honestly it won't last that long!).

BLENDER: Blend the fruits and vegetables in your blender until smoothie texture. Then strain until pulp and juice are separated (dry as possible pulp).

About my favorite juicer...

I researched for quite a long time to find just the right juicer that doesn't cost an astronomical amount of money. The Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL Centrifugal Juicer won hands down and it is the best juicer I've ever had. It will juice just about anything and has a very large chute (fits a whole apple!). I love that the juice pitcher fits right onto the machine for easy access as does the extra-large pulp collection container. The machine is compact, easy to use, and a breeze to clean up. I've been using the leftover pulp in muffins to get the extra fiber. The juice from the machine is SO GOOD and can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days in the included pitcher.

Whichever method you use to make your fresh juice, have fun experimenting with different fruit and veggie juicing combinations - happy juicing!
